Sergey Brudanin’s exhibition “Open Spaces”

March 14, 2023

On March 3, at 16:00, Sergey Brudanin’s exhibition “Open Spaces” will open in the space of the museum’s large exhibition hall (second floor).

This exhibition is a reflection on emptiness and fullness, about a world cleansed of details and details. The space in which man and nature live is heaven and earth, separated/united by the horizon line, eternally unattainable. A person is looking for himself in this eternal boundless space, finds and loses his points of support, his scale and the endless landscape.

The author says about the idea of the exhibition: “Emptiness is the array on which everything rests. Emptiness gives shelter to things and plots, where the horizon line plays a special role. It is not something objective in itself, but we understand that it is the horizon line that introduces us to the plot as participants.”

The exhibition will feature picturesque landscapes. In a familiar and popular genre, the artist works in a free and recognizable manner, using hardboard, pieces of old furniture, oil paints, acrylic and even earth, as well as poetry and sincerity.

The exhibition “Irina Zatulovskaya. Flight to Egypt” (0+)

March 13, 2023

On March 2, at 16:00, the exhibition of the artist Irina Zatulovskaya “Flight to Egypt” will open in the space of the large exhibition hall of the museum.

The exhibition “Flight to Egypt” presents the works of the famous Russian artist created over the past 30 years of her work. Modern works are shown in dialogue with Egyptian antiquities. This dialogue turns out to be multidimensional, in which a person of modern culture recognizes himself in objects of great antiquity.

The title of the exhibition, “Flight to Egypt”, metaphorically reflects a long cultural continuity with reflections on life and death, on time and the authenticity of the inviolability of the present, on the memory and living of the moment as eternally lasting. The exhibition is devoid of superficial pathos, it immerses in the contemplation of the continuity of cultural tradition and the natural connection of phenomena separated by centuries.

The exposition is based on a special structure resembling a ziggurat, designed by Nadia Korbut and Kirill Ass.

The exhibition has already been presented at the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts and at the State Center for Contemporary Art in Nizhny Novgorod (Arsenal). The Voronezh exposition differs from the previous ones and includes Egyptian antiquities from its own collection.

The I.N. Kramskoy Voronezh Art Museum keeps a valuable collection of monuments of ancient Egyptian art, collected more than 200 years ago, the oldest of such collections in Russia. Items from this collection will be included in the exhibition, creating a new context for the perception of cultural values familiar to Voronezh residents.

The exhibition will last until April 9.
