Lectures at the museum

In honor of the 90th anniversary of the Voronezh Regional Art Museum, a series of lectures dedicated to the collections of one of
the largest art museums in the Chernozem region begins.

April 11 and 25 at 18:00
Lecture “How did antiquity appear in Voronezh?” (12+)
The meeting will discuss the history of the collection of ancient art objects from the museum’s collection. The guests will learn the history of the formation of the collection of Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome and the subsequent provenance of the collection in Voronezh. Visitors will hear about the key periods of the collection’s movement – its formation at the Imperial Yuriev Museum of Fine Arts, its stay within the walls of Voronezh State University, and subsequent storage at the I.N. Kramskoy Voronezh Art Museum.

At the lecture, guests will see monuments of world importance of the art of Antiquity – the “Fresco from Capua”, an attic collection of red-figure and black-figure ceramics, ancient Greek and Roman marble sculptures. The meeting will end with a presentation of the upcoming re-exhibition of the Hall of Ancient Art at the I.N. Kramskoy Voronezh Art Museum. The course of the re-exposition will be presented by the example of collaboration with the scientific staff of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts.
The cost is 200 rubles.
The lecturer is the curator of the museum’s objects, Yuri Malik.

Lecture “The history of the coin business in Russia. Part 2” (12+)
The second part of the lecture series will cover the period from the reign of Alexei Mikhailovich to the accession of Anna Ivanovna to the throne – the time of Peter the Great’s rapid reforms and the large-scale restructuring of the entire, including financial, system of Russia.
The cost is 200 rubles.
The lecturer is Evgeny Sychev, a senior researcher at the museum.
