Exhibition “Opening Funds. Graphics of Soviet Artists 1960s – 70s “

November 29, 2021

In the Voronezh Regional Art Museum. I.N. Kramskoy continues a series of exhibitions under the general title “Opening Funds”, which are presented in the halls of the permanent exhibition, thematically and substantively complementing it. The exhibitions of the cycle introduce the graphic works stored in the museum’s funds. Graphic sheets are fragile and very sensitive to light and climatic conditions; therefore, for reasons of preservation, they are rarely exhibited. The exhibition project “Discovering Funds” is a rare opportunity to see unique works.

The fourth exhibition in the series, which opens on December 1, will present about 10 graphic works by Soviet artists from the 1960s – 70s.

In the sixties and seventies, artistic life noticeably intensified, art expands its stylistic and thematic range. Artists are attracted by both the subjects of peaceful everyday life and the heroized themes of space exploration and the construction of the BAM. In the same years, unofficial art with its complicated imagery, references to mythology, religion, and philosophical ideas became more and more noticeable. In artistic terms, the masters turn to various sources from folk traditions to the discoveries of the avant-garde and the paradoxical fantasies of surrealism.

The exhibition will feature original and printed graphics by Leonid Soyfertis, Alexander Vedernikov, Alexander Gurikov, Vyacheslav Pavlov, Fyodor Semyonov-Amursky, Vera Fedyaevskaya, Viktor Tsigal.

A visit to the exhibition is included in the price of an admission ticket to the permanent exhibition of the museum.

Members of the Union of Artists (upon presentation of a certificate) – free of charge.
Photography: mobile devices, camera (without flash) – free of charge.

The exhibition will run until January 16, 2022.

Exhibition of one painting “Portrait of Professor V.E. Regel “

November 23, 2021

Sergei Vasilyevich Malyutin (1859–1937) – Russian artist, architect, master of the original Russian Art Nouveau. At the age of three he became an orphan and was brought up by his aunt in Voronezh. The exhibition of the Itinerants, held in Voronezh in the late 1870s, made an indelible impression on Sergei Malyutin. Struck to the depths of his soul by the painting created by outstanding artists, Malyutin firmly decided to become a painter. In 1886 he graduated from the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. In the early period of creativity S. V. Malyutin worked in various genres and stubbornly improved his skills.

A special merit of Sergei Malyutin is the resumption of the implementation of the idea of P.M. Tretyakov on the creation of portraits of figures of Russian culture. A series of portraits written by him is a worthy contribution of the artist to Russian painting, which brought him wide fame and the title of academician. In Soviet times, the artist continued to paint portraits, one of which is the portrait of V.E. Regel from the collection of the Voronezh Regional Art Museum. I.N. Kramskoy, created by the master in 1923.

Vasily Eduardovich (Andreas Friedrich Wilhelm) Regel (1857-1932) – Russian and Soviet historian, the first rector of Voronezh State University. He was an active supporter of saving the staff and property of Yuryev University, in connection with the German occupation of the Baltic States, by moving it to Voronezh. It was Regel who, on behalf of the Academic Council of Yuryev University, negotiated in Petrograd and Moscow about the conditions for such a transfer. He headed the “Committee for the Organization of the University in Voronezh” and took over affairs from the last rector of Yuryev University, Professor V.G. Alekseeva. In September 1918, he was elected the first rector of Voronezh State University and remained in this post until 1925. After that he worked as director of the University Museum of Antiquities and Fine Arts.

You can get acquainted with the work with a ticket to the permanent exhibition of the museum.

The exhibition will be available from December 01, 2021 to January 30, 2022
