In 2023, the Voronezh Regional Art Museum celebrates its 90th anniversary. This event is dedicated to a series of exhibitions under the general title “Peers of the Museum”, which will present paintings from our collections created in 1933, the year the museum was founded.
Very little is known about the artist Elizaveta Izmailovna Eliseeva, whose self-portrait is presented at the exhibition. She was born in Dorogobuzh, Smolensk region. She studied the art of the artist at the Higher Art and Technical Workshops (VKHUTEMAS), where she met the artist Fyodor Semenov-Amursky. After graduation, in 1930, the creative couple created a family.
Elizaveta Eliseeva devoted her whole life to her husband, becoming his assistant and faithful companion. They lived modestly, in a small communal apartment in Moscow, without taking an active part in the artistic life of the capital. The work of Elizabeth Eliseeva, like her spouse, was greatly influenced by the French Impressionists and Russian modernists of the twenties. Semenov-Amursky wrote a lot, but did not exhibit, because in 1946 he was accused of formalism and expelled from the Union of Artists.
In the 1950s and 1960s, Eliseeva and Semenov-Amursky repeatedly traveled to Goryachy Klyuch, where there were creative dachas that attracted artists and writers from different parts of the country with their picturesque nature and unique sights. The exhibition will also feature watercolor landscapes by Elizaveta Izmailovna, painted in the open air in a Hot Key, and still lifes.
After the death of her husband in 1980, Elizaveta Eliseeva became the curator and propagandist of his creative heritage, thanks to which a rich collection of paintings by F. Semenov-Amursky and several works by Ye. appeared in the funds of the Voronezh Art Museum. Eliseeva.
You can get acquainted with the exhibition in the hall of Soviet painting with a ticket to the permanent exhibition of the museum.
The exhibition will run from March 21 to April 30, 2023.
The personal exhibition of the People’s Artist of the USSR and Russia, President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Konstantinovich Tsereteli “Joy of Life” was prepared and provided by the Russian Academy of Arts.
The exhibition will run from April 14 to May 28, 2023.
The last time the Voronezh Museum presented a solo exhibition of Zurab Konstantinovich was in 2016, and it is a great honor for us to meet again with the works of the great master in the year of the museum’s 90th anniversary.
It is difficult to overestimate the contribution of the master to the culture of not only our country, but also the world as a whole. His art unites generations and countries, and created by his hands would be enough for several lifetimes. Zurab Konstantinovich’s sculptural compositions adorn many cities not only in Russia, but also in Great Britain, France, Spain, Uruguay, Israel, Japan, Greece, the USA, Serbia, Canada, and, of course, the master’s homeland – Georgia. He is a bearer of traditions of different times and peoples.
The artist’s works are like animated colored dreams, and each is an ode to life. Here, color, characteristic images, and the very idea of the inseparable existence of nature and man are symbolic. Bright, life-affirming, sometimes ironic short story paintings seem to immerse the viewer in the boundless expanses of a unique artistic dimension. The master is in tune with modernity even when he turns to eternal, classical themes. In his works, there is something that a person needs so much – an extraordinary and inescapable, conquering force of life.
The exhibition will feature 56 works by the artist: 33 paintings, 21 three-dimensional enamel and 2 sculptures.
The exhibition will run from April 14 to May 28, 2023.

On March 30 at 16:00 in the space of the large exhibition hall of the museum (second floor), the exhibition of the Russian portrait “Face. Face. Personality” from the collection of the Voronezh Regional Art Museum named after I.N. Kramskoy.
Portrait, like no other genre of painting, reflects the historical epoch and socio-cultural processes inherent in time. Visitors of the exhibition will be able to trace the path of development of the Russian portrait from the icon through the parsuna to the masterpieces of Rokotov, Tropinin, Kramskoy, Serov, Vasnetsov; to see the transformation of the portrait image performed by artists of the early twentieth century: Kiseleva, Falk, Milashevsky, Rusakov. The personality of a person of the Soviet era will appear on the canvases of Meshkov, Bogorodsky, Zeitlin, Eremenko. A different view of the image of a contemporary will be reflected in the works of artists of the 1960s-1980s: Romanovich, Khoroshilov, Neroslavsky, Loboda. And, finally, the stylistic diversity of portraits of the late XX–early XXI century will be represented by paintings by Savostyuk, Lavrov, Shcheglov, Zagorodnykh, Viktorov.
