November 27, 2017

The head of the department of professional art and art education Alena Sergeeva, stressed that the exhibition turned out to be subtle, lyrical and at the same time very emotional. Because it is female creativity that is characterized by a special warmth and tenderness, manifested in semitones, a special look at their models.

Member of the Union of Artists, Honored Worker of Culture of Russia, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts, Director of the Voronezh Art School, Sergei Gulevsky (husband of the artist), especially noted that she admires Olga Vasilievna’s skill, diligence and talent, because her works set a high enough benchmark .

“We are in dire need of today in exhibitions of this format, where the high skill, the responsibility and the dedication to the continuation of the traditions of our Russian art are very convincingly traced,” said Alexei Smirnov, chairman of the board of the regional organization of the Union of Artists.

The writer, the writer, the professor, the candidate of philological sciences Oleg Lasunsky noted the high professionalism with which the author’s works were executed and expressed the hope that such exhibitions will continue.

Many warm words and kind wishes were addressed to the artist by her colleague in the workshop, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Alexander Lavrov.

«Yuri Cooper. Illustrations to the tragedy of A.S. Pushkin «Mozart and Salieri» from the collection of VOKHM them. I.N. Kramskoy»» (0+)

November 22, 2017

On December 1, 2017, the exhibition project “Yuri Cooper. Illustrations to the tragedy of A.S. Pushkin “Mozart and Salieri” from the collection of VOKHM them. I.N. Kramskoy”.

The project was implemented as part of a grant from the Voronezh Region government to create creatively significant projects in the field of culture and art.

In the center of the exhibition there is the book “Mozart and Salieri” by A.S. Pushkin, illustrated by Yuri Cooper – one of the most famous contemporary Russian-American artists. The museum’s collection holds one of fifty copies of this unique work – the “artist’s book”. Its form is traditional for this genre – the book consists of separate sheets that are folded into a special folder-case. From the beginning to the end, the artist is the author of the created book, working not only on the content and illustrations, but also all other elements of the sheet. At the same time, the text of the book becomes only one of the components of a complex artistic message.

The specificity of the subject does not allow to expose the “artist’s book” by Yuri Cooper in public access to museum visitors, see the inner author’s design and original lithographs, each of which represents an independent work of art and signed by the artist. The project “Yuri Cooper. Illustrations to the tragedy of A.S. Pushkin “Mozart and Salieri” from the collection of VOKHM them. I.N. Kramskoy »solves this problem with the help of computer copies made in the size of the originals. The exhibition features 17 illustrations. Their main motive – the artist’s memories of the museum-reserve “Mikhailovskoye”, where Pushkin worked on “Little Tragedies.”

“… I wandered in my thoughts slowly, as if in a dream, listening to the creaking of floorboards and wandering around the labyrinth of rooms in Mikhailovskoye. There was a grave silence, gazing intently at frozen objects, it seemed to me that they were bewitched and resembled ghosts. Here it is – a world of absolute silence and tranquility. ”
Yu. Cooper.

The intricacies of the relations of two eminent musicians of the second half of the 18th century are embodied by the artist in an exquisite figure of the finest lace, dried flowers, apples, goose feathers. They as personal things – witnesses of the vanished moments of the life of the heroes and the author of the work..

“Unexpectedly, I imagined myself as a private detective, who many years later returned to the place of an irreparable tragedy, trying in vain to find a clue missed by previous researchers; it seemed to me that my calling was an undisclosed crime. I again and again looked at the patterns on the dusty glass glasses standing in the old cupboard. My fervent imagination asked: from what kind of glass could Mozart drink? And so, at the bottom of one of them, I could clearly see the tiny crystals of poison, and not the dust that had been left since the days of Arina Rodionovna “.
Yu Cooper.

The exhibition will last until December 17, 2017.

The entrance fee for all categories of citizens is 50 rubles.

Photo and video are prohibited.

Konstantin Alekseevich Korovin is a Russian painter, theater artist, teacher and writer, one of the first Russian impressionists. He was born in a wealthy merchant family. At the age of fourteen the boy entered the architectural department of the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, a year later moved to the painting department. He studied at A.K. Savrasov and V.D. Polenov.

To complete his education, Korovin went to St. Petersburg and entered the Academy of Arts, but three months later he left there because he considered teaching methods not suitable for himself.

In the artist’s work, France occupied a significant place. During his first stay in Paris in 1887, Konstantin Alekseevich first became acquainted with the work of the Impressionists, under whose influence his numerous landscapes were created. In them, the artist was able to masterfully pass the life of Paris, as in the hours of morning awakening, and in the evening, in the radiance of lights on the streets and boulevards.

In the 1900s, he actively worked in the theater, creating sketches of costumes and scenery for dramatic productions, operas and ballets, and worked on the design of the Bolshoi Theater, the Mariinsky Theater and the La Scala Theater in Milan.

For decades, the master participated in exhibitions of artists of different trends and associations – the Wanderers, the “World of Art”, the “Union of 36”, the Union of Russian Artists.

Since 1901, K.A. Korovin and V.A. Serov was taught at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. Among his students there were the set designer SF Nikolayev, the future teacher, writer and local historian SP Volkov.

During the First World War, the painter worked as a camouflage consultant at the headquarters of the Russian army.

After the October Revolution in Russia K. Korovin was actively involved in the preservation of art monuments, organized auctions and exhibitions in favor of the released political prisoners, continued to cooperate with theaters. Since 1918, the artist lived on the estate of Ostrovno Vyshnevolotsky district of the Tver province, he taught at the free state art workshops at the Chaika dacha.

And in 1923 the artist went abroad and again settled in France.

Along with the gift of the painter, Konstantin Alekseevich also possessed an extraordinary literary talent. When the loss of vision forced to completely abandon the fine arts, the artist continued to write stories.

Korovin died in Paris on September 11, 1939.
