Exhibition “Treasures of Russian Museums” (0+)

October 1, 2019

October 10, 2019 at 16.00 in the Voronezh Regional Art Museum. I.N. Kramskoy will be the grand opening of the traveling exhibition “Treasures of Russian Museums”, created as part of the national project “Culture” by the Patriarchal Council for Culture with the participation of the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Museum and Exhibition Center “ROSIZO” and the “Breakthrough” fund. The general partner in the region is the project “Russia – My History”.

The visiting exposition “Treasures of Russian Museums” is a continuation of the exhibition of the same name, which was held in Moscow in November 2018 with unprecedented success.

The art collections of regional museums are unique. Formed by the efforts of several generations of collectors, museum workers, artists and their heirs, they overcome stereotypical ideas about provincial museums. The chronological exhibition collection “Treasures of Russian Museums” covers the period from the end of the 17th to the second half of the 20th century and includes several dozens of unique works by key Russian artists from icons to socialist realism, collected from different parts of the country.

The curatorial group of the project, headed by the General Director of the Tretyakov Gallery Z.I. Tregulova, which includes gallery staff, as well as specialists from the ROSIZO State Museum and Exhibition Center and experts from the Patriarchal Council for Culture, presents the history of Russian art in all its diversity. Masterpieces, many of which have not previously left the borders of their regions or were completely hidden in storage, begin an art tour of the country. Exhibitions will be held within six months in eight cities of Russia.

The composition of the exhibition in Voronezh includes about 40 paintings by V. Tropinin, I. Shishkin, A. Kuindzhi, I. Kramsky, I. Repin, B. Kustodiev, N. Krymov, A. Yavlensky, R. Falk, I. Grabar, A. Laktionov, P. Ossovsky, D. Zhilinsky, Yu. Pimenov and others who represent the golden fund of Russian fine culture.

The main theme of the exhibition was the indestructible unity of the country’s cultural space.

Preparation for the exhibition was a continuation of the tremendous work of curators to identify masterpieces of regional collections. The expositions demonstrate the artistic treasures of the Russian province. Some works have been restored and have come a long way in the scientific description.

The exhibition presents all genres of painting: portrait (ceremonial, provincial), landscape (from north to south of Russia), historical paintings and genre scenes. A variety of names and works give visitors the opportunity to follow the phased development of domestic art.

The exhibition was prepared by the Patriarchal Council for Culture and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.
Organizers: project “Russia – My History”, State Tretyakov Gallery, GMVC “ROSIZO”.

Entrance to the exhibition is FREE! Entrance to the exhibition stops in 30 minutes !!!

An educational program (lectures, thematic tours, museum classes and film screenings) was prepared as part of the exhibition, and a special exposition of tactile paintings for people with visual impairments was also presented.

The exhibition runs until November 10, 2019.
