Exhibition “On the shores of the Voronezh Sea” (12+)

February 17, 2021

March 4, 2021 at the Voronezh Regional Art Museum. I.N. Kramskoy will open the exhibition “On the Shores of the Voronezh Sea”, dedicated to the Voronezh artistic life of the late 1980s – 1990s, which took place outside of official institutions and collaborations.

The time at the turn of the epochs, 1980s – 90s, was also a period of incredibly active cultural life. With the lifting of ideological bans and the fall of the Iron Curtain, an abyss of new information, new practices, and new opportunities has opened up. Young Voronezh artists picked up the general mood: informal and independent creative associations began to emerge, exhibitions of contemporary art were held on city sites, in which metropolitan and foreign galleries and collectors began to show interest. The atmosphere of friendship in a small cultural community, optimism and desire to fill the world with joy and love were reflected in creativity. The art of that time is permeated with the romance of new artistic discoveries and cheerful inventions. Artistic actions, works of that time still look fresh and relevant today, recalling a turbulent, contradictory and somewhat naive time.

The exposition will show more than 100 works of art, made in different techniques and genres, as well as documentary photographs and videos of those years, provided by artists and their heirs, as well as stored in the collection of the VOKHM them. I.N. Kramskoy.

The works of Sergey Gorshkov, Yuri Astapchenko, Alexander Starilov, Alexander Nozhkin, Igor Petropavlovsky, Alexander Voronin, Alexander Lavrov, Mikhail Viktorov, Vitaly Kuleshov will be presented.

Exhibition visit cost:
Full ticket – 200 rubles.
Discount ticket (pupils, students, pensioners) – 150 rubles.
Members of the Union of Artists (upon presentation of a certificate) – free.
Photography: mobile devices, camera (without flash) – free of charge.

The exhibition will run until April 11, 2021.
