July 28 at the Voronezh Regional Art Museum. I.N. Kramskoy, the opening of the exhibition “Emperors and Companions. To the 350th anniversary of Peter the Great.
As part of the opening, with a welcoming speech, the audience was addressed by acting. Museum Director Yuliya Zaichenko. She noted that the art museum occupies one of the first places among cultural institutions in the city in terms of the number of exhibitions associated with the name of Peter. The next exhibition, dedicated to the round date, presents about 30 paintings, graphic and sculptural works in the genres of chamber and salon portraits, as well as plot-symbolic graphic portraits. All works from own museum collection.
The curator of the exhibition, specialist of the exhibition and exhibition department of the museum, candidate of historical sciences, Vladislav Makarov greeted all those present at the opening and spoke about the composition of the exhibition. Among the works selected for the exhibition are 7 paintings, 18 graphic works (lithographs and engravings), as well as 2 sculptural portraits. The works of both Russian and Western European artists are presented to the attention of visitors. More than 10 engravers and more than 10 authors of original portraits from which these engravings were made, as well as a number of authors who created paintings. In the portraits, in addition to the imperial persons of the Romanov dynasty, images of associates of Peter the Great – Fyodor Golovin and Alexander Menshikov are presented. These works are essentially lifetime portraits that have come down to us in engravings. The curator of the exhibition wished everyone a pleasant viewing and answered questions from journalists and visitors.
