On June 22, the exhibition hall of the Voronezh Regional Art Museum named after I.N. Kramskoy hosted the grand opening of the exhibition “Ksenia Uspenskaya. Perfect sense of beauty”, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Voronezh artist’s birth.

The exhibition includes about 80 paintings and drawings from the museum’s own funds, as well as from private collections.

The opening was attended by Acting Director of the museum Yulia Zaichenko, famous Voronezh collector Alexander Gutorov, artist, Honored Worker of Culture of the Voronezh Region Valentina Sumina. Former students of Ksenia Uspenskaya were also present at the opening.

In her welcoming speech, Yulia Zaichenko noted that Ksenia Nikolaevna is one of the most beloved artists for Voronezh residents. Many, especially people of the older generation, are well acquainted with the work of Ksenia Uspenskaya from her works in textbooks, books, and postcards. Her works are so vivid, emotional and sensual that they leave no one indifferent.

Valentina Sumina shared her memories of Ksenia Uspenskaya and expressed gratitude for the fact that the artist brought a “fragrance” of softness, sincerity and aristocracy to her works. She also noted that the artist’s works have an inherent inner harmony, which we all lack so much now.

Alexander Gutorov told about the life and creative path of Ksenia Nikolaevna, with whom he was personally acquainted and friendly. He noted that throughout the artist’s work, there is a love for what she depicted. Alexander Vasilyevich remembered an interesting answer to the question he asked Ksenia Nikolaevna many years ago: “Why, despite her fame throughout the Soviet Union, she does not have the title of either honored or national artist?”. To this she replied that she has a lot more – there is a name that everyone knows.

Vladimir Pupykin spoke on behalf of the graduates of the Architectural Department of the Voronezh School of Architecture, who studied with Ksenia Uspenskaya. He told about what a wonderful teacher and mentor Ksenia Nikolaevna was, what a great love she left in the souls of all her pupils. Many students continued to communicate with their favorite teacher after graduation.

After the opening ceremony, graduates from different years were able to communicate with each other and exchange memories, and a guided tour of the exhibition was held for everyone.

The exhibition will last until July 17, 2022.
