October 28 in one of the halls of the permanent exhibition of the VOKhM them. I.N. Kramskoy, the exhibition “I.E. Grabar. On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of his birth ”.

Igor Emmanuilovich Grabar (1871-1960) is a famous art critic and art historian, author and editor of many fundamental publications, a talented artist. During his long life devoted to creativity and science, he made an invaluable contribution to the salvation and preservation of the cultural heritage of Russia. I.E. Grabar stood at the origins of scientific restoration work and became one of its main organizers.

The exhibition will feature 10 works from the museum’s funds, 9 of which (graphics) were restored at the All-Russian Art Scientific and Restoration Center named after Academician I.E. Grabar. The graphic works will be complemented by Igor Grabar’s painting “Winter Day”.

Many of the works of art have been kept in storerooms for a long time and will be presented at the exhibition for the first time. Among the most outstanding works of art presented at the exhibition are works by the French engraver of the 18th century Jean-Jacques de Boissieu, as well as two miniatures by an unknown author of the first half of the 19th century, made on ivory.

The works are accompanied by photographs showing their condition before and during the restoration process, as well as annotations.
