September 23 at the Art Museum. V.S. Sorokin – the House of the Master (Lipetsk) opened an exhibition of works by the front-line correspondent Semyon Legenya “Roads of Victory” from the funds of the Voronezh Regional Art Museum. I.N. Kramskoy, dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

Among many famous Voronezh front-line artists, the name of the graphic artist and painter Semyon Danilovich Legeni (1905–1994) occupies a special place. He began his combat path as part of the 6th Army of the Voronezh Front and continued it with weapons in hand as part of the Southwestern and 1st Ukrainian fronts, making sketches of battles and their heroes, landscapes and ancient architecture.

Semyon Legenya, without any exaggeration, was a true chronicler of the army formation. He meticulously recorded the path of his military unit, which he went from Novokhopersk in the Voronezh region through Ukraine, Moldova, Poland to Germany itself.

The entire “Front Series” of Semyon Danilovich is of great importance for preserving memory and an objective view of the tragic and heroic years of the Great Patriotic War.

The exposition presents 20 graphic works, made in the genre of portrait and thematic drawing, highlighting the heroic path of Soviet troops on the way to Victory.

The exhibition is supplemented by exhibits from the Museum of Battle Glory of the Lipetsk Expeditionary Club “Neunyvaki” Vladislav Shiryaev.

The exhibition will run until November 25, 2020.
