Stepan Fyodorovich Kolesnikov-Russian painter of the late XIX-first half of XX centuries., one of the members of the society “Community of artists.”

The future artist was born in the village of Adrianople of the Slavyanoserbsky district of the Ekaterinoslav province in the family of peasant Fyodor Kolesnikov. The boy early showed artistic talent, his first lessons he received from visiting painters. When Stepan was 16 years old, his drawings were selected for the all-Russian exhibition in Nizhny Novgorod. Thanks to his work Kolesnikov received an award from the Zemstvo in the form of a scholarship for appropriate education.

In 1897, Stepan Kolesnikov entered the Odessa art school, at that time, which was one of the best secondary schools in Russia.

In 1903, Kolesnikov entered the Imperial Academy of arts. He was accepted there without entrance examinations, which became possible thanks to the end of the Odessa school in the first category. Despite the offer of a job as a teacher, he went with Brodsky and Grekov to St. Petersburg and became a student of the landscape Studio of Professor A. A. Kiselev and I. E. Repin. However, soon there were famous revolutionary events, and Kolesnikov, along with his friends because of the unrest was forced to go to the little Russian estate of Burliuk.

The favorite theme of the artist was the state of the South Russian nature during its rapid awakening-the melting of snow, floods and cheerful spring days. With pleasure he wrote and household compositions inhabited by people and Pets. During the First world war, the master turned to the military theme, creating a number of positive responses caused paintings.

Before the Civil war, the master worked a lot and fruitfully, regularly participating, sometimes with a large number of works, at numerous exhibitions. Neither the attention of criticism, nor her assessment of His work S. F. Kolesnikov was not offended. On the contrary, he regularly took high places at the exhibitions and was often encouraged by awards.

In 1920, S. F. Kolesnikov emigrated from the raging country and settled in Serbia. Soon he became a Professor at the Belgrade Academy of arts. In the 1920s, he organized several solo exhibitions in Europe. At the same time, he performed a number of serious monumental works. The artist’s works are presented in the leading museums of the country.

There is very little information about his life and activities abroad. The last 12 years of his life, the artist suffered from a serious illness – Parkinson’s disease. In may 1955, he was gone. Stepan Kolesnikov was buried in a new cemetery in Belgrade, near the ivera chapel.
