Sebastiano Ricci – representative of the Venetian school of painting, whose work influenced a whole galaxy of masters.

The artist studied the works of the Bologna and Venetian schools of painting, but his style can rightfully be considered unique: bright colors, decorative composition. In addition, he has an expressive manner of writing. In his work, Ricci turned to historical, mythological and religious themes.

Sebastiano Ricci performed picturesque orders in Bologna, Turin, Milan, Rome. The top of the artist’s works are Florentine frescos, created in 1706-1707. Ricci performed a series of frescoes in the Palazzo Marocelli-Fentzi and the Palazzo Pitti. Works created for the Palazzo Pitti, brought the artist’s fame in Europe.

In 1712, Sebastiano Ricci moved to London, where, together with his pupil, he created a series of paintings with mythological subjects for Lord Burlington, painted the Chapel of the Duke of Chengdos in the Cannons Palace. After a four-year stay in England, the artist went to Paris, where he was admitted to the Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture for his work “The Triumph of Wisdom over Ignorance.”
