Within the framework of the action “Night of Museums” on May 20 in the VOKHM them. I.N. Kramskoy held a master show, implying a rethinking of the paintings from the permanent exposition of the museum. Artists from the Studio A.V. Out-of-town people selected works on the basis of which they created original paintings in the spirit of avant-garde artists of the 1910s-1920s. And all this in front of the audience!

The participant of the action, the artist from Studio A.V. Zagorodnykh Olga Gnezdilova:

“It was very difficult to choose a painting from the permanent exposition of the museum. So we have a diverse collection! I was interested in trying to make a classic picture in the avant-garde style. And I chose the composition “Fees to the crown” of Akim Karneev. This subject was of interest to many painters. Also attracted a limited palette, which was used in the work. The artist used three primary colors: red, blue and yellow, which can often be found in icon painting. Such a rigid framework, set by classical painting, on the one hand posed a difficult task, and on the other hand – provided a large selection of expressive means for rethinking the work.

In avant-garde art, in my opinion, philosophy is more than painting. But if you look at the works of Malevich, Kandinsky, you can see that their compositions of geometric shapes and lines are built according to the classical canons. This principle I used in my work. People and objects depicted by Akim Karneyev can be entered into simple figures, and the composition itself tends to the center – to the bride, who will soon have to go to the crown.

Any creative process, which is watched by the audience, is always a test for the artist. Participation in such actions as “Night of Museums” helps to feel more free and gives an opportunity for live communication with museum visitors. It was curious to know how people of different ages perceive painting – classical and avant-garde, listen to their opinions about work. Especially remembered is the communication with children, who were interested in literally everything – and what colors I mix, and who is Akim Karneyev, and why it turned into such figures his work. Some questions puzzled, for example, how long the artist needed to draw a big picture. Communicating with children about art is always an exciting and interesting experience, because their perception of painting and the surrounding world is sometimes much deeper than that of adults. ”

Also in the master show were attended by A. Zagorodnykh, Yu. Bereza, S. Khramtsova, Y. Selina.
