September 2, 2016 in the exhibition hall of the VOKHM them. I.N. Kramskoy at 16.00 will solemnly open the exhibition of E. Neizvestny, which will be presented sculpture, painting and graphic artist: partly autobiographical sculptural work “Orpheus”; one of the most mysterious creations of the Unknown is “Bertrand de Born”; “Heart of Christ” in sculpture and graphics; little-known to the Russian public painting of the period of emigration; early, made in Soviet times, drawings and much more. These are selected works from the extensive collection of Felix Komarov, a friend and official representative of Ernst Neizvestny in Russia, a great connoisseur and collector of the works of an outstanding master. The exposition will be accompanied by information material, photos and video material.

Sculptor, artist and philosopher Ernst Iosifovich Unknown – a unique creative personality with a difficult fate. In the USSR, Unknown received classical art education and already in his youth was noted at the All-Union competitions of children’s creativity. But the Great Patriotic War interrupted the activity of the sculptor: he volunteered to defend his homeland. The war years strongly influenced the perception of the world by the artist. Returning to the creation after the war, he began to search for a new expressive artistic language. By the end of the 1950s Ernst Neizvestny was a laureate of the International Festival Prizes, winner of the All-Union Contests, which created many masterpieces that are installed in many cities around the world.
