On October 26 and 27, the museum hosted the interregional conference “Regional Art Collections. History and modernity”.
The conference was held in a mixed format and was timed to coincide with the 90th anniversary of the Voronezh Art Museum, established in 1933.
Regional museums are an extremely important layer of national cultural heritage. Art collections outside the capitals are much less likely to fall into the field of vision of the general public and even specialists. The history of art remains incomplete without knowledge and introduction to the scientific and cultural circulation of this material. The purpose of the conference is to discuss important events in the history of art collections outside the capitals, identifying common patterns, revealing the riches of these collections, paying attention to the peculiarities of their work and current problems.
I.N. Kramskoy VOHM held a scientific conference for the first time in 40 years. From the very first year, the event acquired an interregional character – representatives of various museums and educational organizations – the State Russian Museum, the State Tretyakov Gallery, the All-Russian Art Research and Restoration Center named after I. E. Grabar, the Pskov Art Gallery, the Saratov State Art Museum named after A.N. Radishchev, Chelyabinsk State Museum of Fine Arts, Voronezh State Pedagogical University and other institutions.
At the plenary session, welcoming speeches and reports were made by the Minister of Culture of the Voronezh Region Maria Mazur, the director of the Museum Yulia Zaichenko, the academic Secretary, advisor to the Rector of the VSU Vladimir Listengarten and the head of the consulting and methodological interaction with museums of the State Russian Museum Marina Krasovitova.
