On May 25 at 16:00 in the space of the small exhibition hall of the museum (3rd floor of the permanent exhibition) The Voronezh Regional Art Museum named after I.N. Kramskoy will open an exhibition «Art of Western Europe of the XVII-XIX centuries» from the collection of the Tula Museum of Fine Arts.
On the opening day, from 16:00 to 17:00, admission to the exhibition is free.

The basis of the collection of Western European art consists of works received from the estates of the nobles of the Tula province – the Bobrinskys, Olsufievs, Gagarins, Golitsins, Urusovs, Campanari and others. Relatively small in number, it is nevertheless represented by characteristic examples of painting, sculpture and decorative and applied art and gives an idea of the development of Western European art of the XVII-XIX centuries.

The exhibition will feature 38 works, including paintings by masters of Italy, Holland, Flanders, France, Germany, objects of decorative and applied art: animal sculpture, clocks, bouillottes, candelabra. The exhibition will introduce the skills of artists whose heritage is little represented in our country: Felix Schlesinger, Anton Kolesinsky, Giuseppe Recco, Jean Baptiste Jules Traillet, Oswald Achenbach, Kubler and others.

Sentimental scenes interpreted by German and French artists will reflect the touching relationships of close relatives, the peculiarities of life of representatives of different classes and professions. The landscapes of the Classical era with majestic landscapes will emphasize the beauty and harmony of nature. Allegories of Dutch and French masters with the help of mythological or real characters will tell about abstract concepts and feelings. Objects of applied art will remind you of the elegance of everyday life of the XIX century.

The exhibition “The Art of Western Europe of the XVII-XIX centuries”, which was provided by the Tula Museum of Fine Arts, is an exchange: the Voronezh Museum sent to Tula an exposition of the works of Alexander Buchkuri. This joint project takes place within the framework of the national project «Culture» and in order to implement in 2023 the regional project «Creating conditions for the realization of the creative potential of the nation» («Creative people») of the state program of the Tula region «Development of culture and tourism of the Tula region».
