During the lesson, participants will make an exciting journey through the two floors of the main museum exposition into the wonderful world of childhood, get acquainted with the genre of children’s portraits, learn how the image of the child changed in the paintings of artists in different eras and will perform tasks right in the hall: they will guess objects and find them on museum exhibits, play the mobile game “Revive the picture” and solve the puzzle “Extra picture”

Throughout the epochs, in the course of the development of human society, the attitude towards children and childhood as a special period of human life has changed. This transformation was reflected mainly in works of fine art. Drawings, miniatures, iconography, paintings, frescoes of different eras, recorded the reflection of time in children’s images. The lecture participants will learn about how the image of a child has changed throughout history and how it was reflected in children’s portraits from the era of Ancient Egypt to the beginning of the XX century.
