On December 15, on the eve of the New Year and Christmas holidays, the exhibition “Waiting for a Miracle” will open on the second floor of the exhibition hall of the Voronezh Regional Art Museum named after I.N. Kramskoy, showing about 30 works of painting, graphics and decorative and applied art from the collections of the museum, the Voronezh Artists Charitable Foundation, the Gallery exhibition center soviet era” and private collections. Many of the works will be exhibited for the first time.

The exhibition covers a large period of the history of Russian fine art: from the brightest representatives of the Silver Age of Russian culture (E.A. Kiseleva, I.E. Grabar), artists of the Soviet period (A.P. Krasnov, E.P. Efanov, V.K. Komolov, K.N. Uspenskaya, V.P. Krivoruchko, Z.E. Popov, etc.) to modern authors (A. Kazhdan and Ya. Pankratova).

The New Year is perceived precisely as a children’s holiday, so the touching image of a child waiting for winter and a New Year’s miracle, captured in S.A. Tutunov’s painting “Childhood” (1960), became one of the central ones at the exhibition. Traditional children’s winter fun (snowball fights, ice mountain skiing, snowman modeling, skiing and skating) depicted in the paintings of Russian artists will bring adults back to the world of childhood, and children will be introduced to their peers who sincerely enjoy winter entertainment.

The exposition will be complemented by decorative and applied art. A pleasant surprise for adults and children will be a section dedicated to pre-revolutionary New Year’s toys.

From December 15 to December 30, anyone who comes to the exhibition will be able to send a letter to Santa Claus in Veliky Ustyug. The festive New Year mood will be created by famous poems about winter by classics of Russian poetry: S. Yesenin, S. Marshak; K. Chukovsky; A. Barto, S. Mikhalkov. Master classes and excursions with game elements are planned to be held within the framework of the exhibition. The exhibition is designed for a family audience, but is aimed at children.

The exhibition will last until January 15, 2023.
