On December 9 at 16:00 the exhibition of sculpture and graphics by St. Petersburg sculptor Fyodor Krushelnitsky “The Bronze Horseman” will open in the Voronezh Regional Art Museum named after I.N. Kramskoy.

The author works in the technique of bronze casting, forging and their combination. Like any great artist, he came up with his own system of pictorial signs, his own artistic language. The result of which was his bright, always recognizable style. The exhibition will include 40 sculptural and about 30 graphic works in the industrial-technocratic style.

Twelve bronze horsemen, which form the core of the exhibition-experiment by Fyodor Krushelnitsky, represent twelve independent projects of equestrian monuments. In a way, these works reveal the “working kitchen” of the master. All of them are made in the technique of casting from bronze. If the artist’s previous exhibitions were devoted mainly to the heroic era of the hammer and sickle, then the appeal to the Peter’s theme of the “Bronze Horseman” is quite new for Fyodor Krushelnitsky, and this topic has been developed by him only for the last three years.

The equestrian monument to Peter the Great – the largest and most complex – is the dominant feature of the entire exposition. The tsar, who laid the foundation of the Russian state, is depicted here riding a rampant horse at an angle of 45 degrees, supported by three points. Peter’s favorite horse, which has repeatedly saved the life of its owner, is a metaphor of Russia-Russia.

After Kazimir Malevich’s revolutionary black square, which turned the whole world of art upside down in the twentieth century, the author did not want to approach sculpture and think in plastic categories of the past. The artist must correspond to his time and epoch, even in some ways ahead of it, find a new plastic language, a new form, a new content and dramaturgy.

In addition to the works related to the Peter the Great theme and the series “The Bronze Horseman”, other revelations of the artist, who has more than 60 personal exhibitions in his arsenal, await the viewer at the exhibition.

The exhibition will last until January 15, 2023.
