On October 19, the opening of the large exhibition project “Communication of Generations” dedicated to the 350th anniversary of the birth of Peter the Great took place. This is a large-scale All-Russian project, the expositions of which are located on three exhibition sites of the city:

Voronezh Regional Art Museum named after I.N. Kramskoy (Revolution Ave., 18);
City Exhibition Hall (Kirova str., 8);
Exhibition hall “Union of Artists of Russia” (Pushkinskaya str., 7b).

The opening of the exhibition at the art museum was attended by more than 400 guests. The following speakers addressed the audience: Chairman of the VTO “Union of Artists of Russia” Andrey Nikolaevich Kovalchuk, Head of the Department of Culture of the Voronezh Region Maria Alexandrovna Mazur, Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Arts, Rector of the Moscow Institute named after V.I. Surikov Anatoly Aleksandrovich Lyubavin, Chairmen of the Voronezh and Lipetsk regional branches of the Union of Artists of Russia Alexey Efimovich Smirnov and Sergey Anatolyevich Tolcheev, Rector of the Voronezh Institute of Arts, People’s Artist of the Russian Federation Sergey Viktorovich Karpov, Acting Director of the Museum Yulia Nikolaevna Zaichenko.

Alexey Smirnov noted that this project enjoys the support of the Governor of the region A.V. Gusev, and told about the final composition of the expositions: now in Voronezh you can see works from 16 regions of Russia. More than 500 works from 450 authors are on display at three venues.

Andrey Kovalchuk mentioned that Russian artists responded vividly to the significant anniversary of the first Emperor of All Russia: “Someone presented new works, someone sent works made earlier to the exhibition, and someone, understanding all the profound changes that Peter I made, created works that, perhaps, directly not related to the Emperor, but dedicated to the history of Russia.” Andrey Nikolaevich noted that such exhibitions unite Russian artists and expressed gratitude to Voronezh and the region’s leadership.

Maria Mazur stressed that the anniversary of Peter the Great pushed institutions of the Voronezh region to organize a number of cultural projects. But the level of preparation of the exhibition “Communication of generations” surpasses the rest. Maria Alexandrovna expressed her gratitude to Alexey Efimovich and the entire staff of the Voronezh branch of the Union of Artists of Russia for the work done.

Anatoly Lyubavin recalled that the museum is hosting the second major exhibition of paintings, graphics and sculptures dedicated to the anniversary of Peter (meaning the project “VIVAT, Russia”, held in April-June this year).  Anatoly Alexandrovich noticed that the paintings themselves glorify Peter 1, and the whole of Russia. Lyubavin also conveyed congratulations from the Russian Academy of Arts to Voronezh.

Sergey Karpov thanked the artists who presented their works and noted that this exhibition is an important event for the cultural life of the region. Sergey Tolcheev emphasized that the exposition of the exhibition is diverse in the topics and genres presented.

Yulia Zaichenko wished the audience a pleasant viewing and stressed that the exhibition should be viewed in its entirety by visiting all three sites.

The exhibition “Communication of Generations” will last until November 27.

You can visit the exhibition on the Pushkin map.
