April 27 in one of the halls of the permanent exhibition VOHM them. I.N. Kramskoy will open the second series of exhibitions of graphic works “Discovering Funds. Graphics of the late 19th – early 20th century”, dedicated to the work of the students of the outstanding painter, artist-teacher Ilya Efimovich Repin. There are about 8 works in total.
Repin’s pedagogical activity can be conditionally divided into three unequal stages. His first experience of pedagogy was classes with the young Tosha Serov at Repin’s house (1874-1880). The main stage of pedagogical activity unfolded at the Higher Art School at the Academy of Arts, where Ilya Efimovich led a personal workshop in the period from 1894 to 1907. At the same time, Repin taught at the St. Petersburg Drawing School of Princess M.K. Tenisheva.
Ilya Efimovich Repin urged his students to study nature and its plasticity with concentration. The study of the real form was the basis of the Repin school. The master taught his pupils to be attentive to the surrounding reality, demanded verification of the drawing made by nature.
Repin was always a great friend of artistic youth, he arranged evenings at which he shared his creative plans, impressions, talked about foreign artists, talked about modern exhibitions and new works.
Ilya Efimovich Repin played a huge role in the creative development of several generations of Russian artists, brought up a whole galaxy of painters who developed the realistic traditions of Russian art in their work.
Entrance to the exhibition is carried out with a ticket for the permanent exhibition of the museum.
The exhibition will run until May 29, 2022.
