On April 20, 2022, the All-Russian inclusive drawing competition “I am an artist – this is how I see it” will start for the seventh time. The competition is held by the Ferris Wheel, a non-profit organization for the sociocultural rehabilitation of people with disabilities, with the support of the Presidential Grants Fund, the Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development of Moscow, in partnership with 32 leading museums in Russia. The works of the winners of the competition will be presented at the exhibition in the Museum of Moscow.
The participants of the competition are children and young people with disabilities, as well as their brothers and sisters, aged 6 to 20 years.
The goals of the competition are: creative self-realization of children and young people with disabilities and their brothers and sisters, encouragement and recognition of their creative abilities, creation of motivation for further development in the field of visual arts, as well as a positive impact on society’s attitude towards the opportunities and abilities of children and young people with disabilities. disability.
The competition jury consists of experts from thirty-two museums from different cities of Russia.
According to the results of the competition, the jury will select ninety-six winners (three from each museum) and more than forty participants will receive special prizes from the partners of the competition. The best works will take part in the final exhibition, which will open on October 9 at the Museum of Moscow. As part of the parallel program, the Metro Gallery (Vystavochnaya metro station) will present the works and stories of past competition winners.
The theme of the seventh competition is “City in Art”. From day to day we see the city from our window. Big or small, quiet or noisy. Each city has its own life, its own history. And, probably, in the heart of any of us there is a special city – one that captures and beckons, one that you want to return to. This year, each contestant will be able to show their favorite, special city.
The competition will involve interpretations of famous works of art on the theme of the city from the collection of any museum in the world. Participants will create them on their own or at master classes that will be held as part of the educational program. For the first time, entries in digital format will also be accepted for the competition.
The educational program provides for master classes by partner museums and the organizer of the competition in offline and online formats, as well as online tours and lectures for parents. Also, together with partner museums, step-by-step instructions for preparing competitive works and video master classes adapted for people with disabilities have been developed. All materials are created taking into account the needs of people with mental disabilities, are provided with subtitles, some of them are translated into Russian Sign Language (RSL). The curator of the project to create step-by-step instructions was the Khakass Museum of Local Lore. The competition program is available on the website yatakvizhu.rf from April 20.
