On April 20, 2022, the All–Russian inclusive drawing contest “I am an artist – I see it this way” will start for the seventh time. The competition is organized by the Ferris Wheel, a non-profit organization for the socio-cultural rehabilitation of people with disabilities, with the support of the Presidential Grants Fund, the Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development of Moscow, in partnership with 32 leading museums in Russia. The works of the winners of the competition will be presented at the exhibition in the Museum of Moscow.
The contest participants are children and young people with disabilities, as well as their brothers and sisters, aged 6 to 20 years. The objectives of the contest are: creative self-realization of children and young people with disabilities and their brothers and sisters, encouragement and recognition of their creative abilities, creation of motivation for further development in the field of visual art, as well as a positive impact on society’s attitude to the opportunities and abilities of children and young people with disabilities.
The jury of the competition consists of experts from thirty–two museums from different cities of Russia.
According to the results of the competition, the jury will select ninety-six winners (three from each museum) and more than forty participants will receive special prizes from the partners of the competition. The best works will take part in the final exhibition, which will open on October 9 at the Museum of Moscow. As part of a parallel program in the Metro gallery (m. Exhibition) the works and stories of the winners of previous years’ contests will be presented.
The theme of the seventh contest is “The City in Art”. Day after day, we see the city from our window. Big or small, calm or noisy. Every city has its own life, its own history. And, probably, in the heart of any of us there is a special city – the one that captures and beckons, the one that you want to return to. This year, each participant of the contest will be able to show his favorite, special city.
Interpretations of famous works of art on the theme of the city from the collection of any museum in the world will take part in the competition. Participants will create them independently or at master classes that will be held as part of the educational program. For the first time, works in digital format will also be accepted for the competition.
The educational program provides for master classes by partner museums and the organizer of the competition in offline and online formats, as well as online excursions and lectures for parents. Also, step-by-step instructions for the preparation of competitive works and video workshops adapted for people with disabilities have been developed together with partner museums. All materials are created taking into account the needs of people with mental peculiarities, are provided with subtitles, some of them are translated into Russian sign language. The Khakass Museum of Local Lore was the curator of the project to create step-by-step instructions. The program of the competition is available on the website of yatakvizhu.Russia from April 20.
