From April 14 to April 17, 2022, Voronezh, for the eleventh time, will host the Big Animation Festival (BFM) – the largest international animation festival in Russia.

The BFM program includes more than 130 films from more than 30 countries for children and adults, an animation exhibition by director and artist Varya Yakovleva, and a meeting with students of creative universities.

The Voronezh Regional Art Museum named after I.N. Kramskoy. The museum will present an exhibition of the artist Vari Yakovleva, who this year became the author of the festival trailer and the image of the festival.

The exhibition titled “Our imperfections make us individuals” will feature 15 works. It will be possible to see the exhibition works during the visit to the screenings of Varia Yakovleva’s animated films, which will be shown until April 30 inclusive.

Animated works will be presented to the attention of the audience (16+): “Square”, “Anna, cat and mouse”, “Life is a faggot” (total viewing time – 15 minutes).

The artist’s films were shown at numerous international festivals and received prizes: three times the prize for the best animated film of the Message to man festival, the national awards “Icarus”, “White Elephant”, Grand Jury Award – Best animation at the Edmont International Film Festival (Canada), Best Russian animation at FAB (Berlin), best animation Lublin film festival (Poland), special jury prize at Supertoon (Croatia), Winter Short of the Year (Spain).

Reference:
Varya Yakovleva was born in Saratov in 1983. Graduate of the art department of VGIK (a course of animation and computer graphics artists) and the school-studio “SHAR” (a course of animation film directors, workshop of A.Yu. Khrzhanovsky, A.M. Demin, I.L. Maksimov).

Illustrates books and makes animated films. He teaches at the school-studio “SHAR” and at the British Higher School of Design.

Participated in exhibitions in Russia, Italy, Czech Republic, Croatia, Ukraine. Works are in private collections in England, France, Germany, USA, Italy, Spain, Czech Republic. Member of the Moscow Union of Artists, section “Artist of theatre, cinema and TV”. Winner of the International Festival of Book Illustration and Visual Literature MORS 2018.

She worked as a production designer for the full-length animated film The Nose or a Conspiracy Not Like This (dir. Andrey Khrzhanovsky). As an illustrator, she collaborated with the Samokat publishing house and the Gogol Center.
