Lecture "Magic Worlds of Maya Miturich" (16+)

September 5 at 15.00. in VOKhM them. I.N. Kramskoy will host a lecture “The Magic Worlds of May Miturich” (as part of the exhibition “Back to the USSR. From the” Thaw “to” Perestroika “. Art 1960-1980”).

Painter, graphic artist, illustrator, writer, traveler May Petrovich Miturich-Khlebnikov presented Soviet children with amazing artistic images of poems by A. Barto, S. Marshak, K. Chukovsky, heroes of the works of Homer, R. Kipling, L. Carroll, P. Bazhov, G Snegireva. These colorful illustrations remain fascinating and mesmerizing today, reflecting the artist’s special worldview – a vision through the prism of surprise and childish curiosity. The lecture will focus on the life and work of May Miturich-Khlebnikov, on the impressions received during the artist’s numerous travels, transformed into fabulous drawings and words.

May Petrovich Miturich-Khlebnikov (1925-2008) – the son of artists Vera Khlebnikova and Pyotr Miturich. Awarded the honorary diploma of Hans-Christian Andersen (1978). People’s Artist of the RSFSR (1986). Corresponding Member of the USSR Academy of Arts (1988). He received international recognition as a graphic artist and illustrator of about a hundred books, awarded with diplomas in Russia and medals at international exhibitions in Leipzig and Bratislava. In 2005 he was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun (Japan).

The works of May Miturich-Khlebnikov are kept in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, the State Museum of Fine Arts. A.S. Pushkin, the State Museum of Oriental Art, in many state art museums and galleries in our country, in the museums of Bulgaria and Japan.
