The final day of the exhibition “History of Russian Design 1917-2017” in VOKhM them. I.N. Kramskoy was marked not only by a large number of visitors seeking to get to know the exposition, but also by showing the film “DESIGN IN THE USSR” (1977).
The film spoke about the work of VNIITE, its branches and Soviet design bureaus as the main foundation for the systematic development of our country’s design, as well as the direction of the creative thought of the designers of that period, which involved the design of a new life for Soviet people: from household items, cars and public transport to metro stations, residential premises, buildings and streets.
After the film screening, a discussion was held by Alexandra Sankova, founder and director of the Moscow Museum of Design; designer, design historian; author of a collection of interviews with Russian designers; author of articles on Soviet design.
* The project was implemented with the support of SIBUR as part of the Formula of Good Deeds charity program.
