Posters of the initial period of war, urged the Soviet people to arms, to fight for the honor and independence of the Motherland. They were permeated with pathos of selfless struggle against the mortal enemy. Resurrecting the glorious history of our Motherland in graphic works, the artists created posters, which vividly reflected the mass heroism of the Soviet people at the front and in the rear.

The highest achievements of the Soviet poster of that distant time with the beginning of the war creatively used primarily famous artists of the older generation-DS Moore, VN Denis, M. M. Cheremnykh, other masters of graphics and painting.

Sensitive and responsive poster artists responded to the events in the country and the course of military operations conducted by the Soviet Army in a vast space from the Barents to the Black sea.
