28.09.1803 – 19.06.1884

On September 28, the German artist Adrian Ludwig Richter appeared – a representative of the directions of Romanticism and Biedermeier. The artist studied painting at the Dresden Academy of Arts. He worked as a draftsman at the Meissen Porcelain Factory, taught landscape painting at the Dresden Academy. From the end of the 1830s he was engaged in illustrating (including for the publishing of the fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm). Thanks to the huge number of created woodcuts (more than three thousand) for 150 works of art, Richter became one of the most popular artists of Germany.

Richter died at the age of 80 in 1884 in Dresden, where he was buried.
