Such an appreciation of the painting by Camille Corot was given in 1855 by the famous French critic Edmond Abou. Camille Corot is one of the founders of the national landscape school of the XIX century. The forerunner of Impressionism, the master of the finest coloring, who paid exceptional attention to the subtle black and white gradations within the same color, which enabled him to achieve amazing harmony and softness of the picturesque environment.

Jean Baptiste Camille Corot was born July 17, 1796 in Paris in the family of the owner of the studio. Father did not resist the desire of his son to become an artist, and Kamil entered the workshop of Mishallon, and then – to Victor Breten.

In his painting, the artist went from the classical landscape in the spirit of Poussin to Romanticism, developing techniques and techniques, later taken up by the Impressionists.

During his long creative life, the artist wrote about three thousand works, died Camille Corot in Paris on February 22, 1875 at the age of 78 years.
