April 22 at 3 pm in the exhibition hall of the Voronezh Regional Art Museum. I.Kramskogo will host a press conference and the opening of a personal exhibition of paintings by the People’s Artist of the USSR, academician of the Russian Academy of Arts Alexander Shilov “They fought for their country!”. The project of mobile thematic exhibitions on hero cities and cities of military glory is realized within the framework of anniversary events dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. This initiative of the “Moscow State Picture Gallery of the People’s Artist of the USSR A.Shilov” was supported by the Moscow government, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and personally by the President of the Russian Federation V.Putin. With great success exhibitions were held in the cities of military glory: Minsk, Bryansk, Kursk, Orel, Veliky Novgorod, Pskov, Tver, Kovrov; cities-heroes of Volgograd, Tula, Sevastopol, Smolensk, Stary Oskol, Belgorod, today the exposition unfolded in Voronezh, and afterwards it will go to Yelets and Arkhangelsk.

In the exhibition will be presented more than 30 paintings by the famous artist, revealing for contemporaries the heroism of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War. The images of people who put on the “Altar of the Fatherland” all the most precious things they had – one of the main themes in the work of A.Shilov. “Such concepts as love for the Motherland, readiness to defend it, the image of a man who stands guard over the Fatherland, were always very close to me,” the artist himself says. Throughout the creative path the master creates a picturesque chronicle of a truly heroic generation. The cycle of works dedicated to our legendary contemporaries is already more than 40 paintings, in which A.M.Shilov captured the best spiritual features of our veterans – courage, nobility, patriotism, on the example of such people it is necessary to educate the youth.

The exhibition of works by Alexander Shilov is demonstrated in Voronezh for the first time and will last until May 22nd.

The cost of admission is 100 – 150 rubles.

On May 9, Victory Day, the right to free-of-charge visits to the personal exhibition of works by the People’s Artist of the USSR, academician of the Russian Academy of Arts, Shilov “They fought for their homeland!” Have: veterans of all wars, conscripts, I and II group invalids, liquidators of the consequences of accidents at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, children under 7 years old, children in orphanages. The cost of entrance tickets for the exhibition for persons of a preferential category is 100 rubles. Persons of the privileged category are: people aged 7 to 18, members of the Union of Artists, architects, designers of the Russian Federation, students of art schools and colleges, students of art universities, employees of Russian museums, deputies of all levels, members of large families, and pensioners. The cost of admission tickets for adults is 150 rubles.

During the exhibition, guests will be presented with a film about the life and work of the artist “Alexander Shilov: The Fate of Russia in Faces” at 11.00, 14.00 and 16.00 hours.
