Exhibition of a young Voronezh artist Yevgenia Nozhkina “Something familiar …” opens in the inner courtyard of the Regional Art Museum. Kramskoy on Friday, September 11, at 17.00. The exposition includes new sculptures of the artist, made of fabric, wire and luminous cord.

– I did not try to show something specific, tell the viewer my story, impose my point of view. On the contrary, the exhibition in the museum yard – the interaction of the artist and the viewer, images and personal memory, – explained Eugene Nozhkina. – In the yard everyone can see only close contours, silhouettes, recall forgotten histories. After all, one and the same comma evokes memories from everyone.

The artist stressed that she would not impose the names of the works on the audience. Instead, Eugene Nozhkin will offer visitors to the exhibition to play with it in the game, “plunge into the depths of memory, step back from everyday affairs, dream up.”

Yevgenia Nozhkina said that this project was not only specially created for the museum yard, but also was made there – for three weeks the artist worked at the site of the future exhibition. In the exhibition there are 4 large sculptures that were made in the courtyard, and works, as if woven into the nature of this place – the destroyed, asymmetrical remains of past buildings, “working” with the vegetation of the courtyard. Including the work will be located on the stage and podiums.

– I have long wanted to make great sculptures, but they require a lot of space. And where else are the ceilings higher than in the street? When I saw the space of the museum yard, I immediately wanted to work there. This place is unique: on the one hand the wall is the only palace in Voronezh, on the other – modern plastic, and in the middle of the brick non-functioning building of the 90’s. In this place you can see the whole story. The site is asymmetrical, uneven, very interesting, – noted the artist.

The works of the exposition “Something familiar …” will not be protected from rain and wind. According to Evgenia Nozhkina, during the preparation of the exhibition, some exhibits have already been tested by bad weather.

“If the weather makes a difference in my work, I’m only pro’s, it’s an interesting experiment,” said the artist.

Yevgenia Nozhkina’s exhibition “Something familiar …” will work in the museum yard until October 1.
