January 21, 2021 in the exhibition hall of VOKhM named after I.N. Kramskoy will open an exhibition “FOTUM – 10 years”.

The jubilee exhibition of art photography “Fotum” – 10 Years “presents selected works of members of the” Fotum “photo club, made in various genres: from portrait to still life, from landscape to reportage, as well as photography, photo painting, abstract photography. This makes it possible to see different approaches to photography, different techniques – to see the world through the prism of feelings, emotions, perception of the authors, expressed in the form of aesthetically significant photographic images. A total of about 130 works.

Almost all the participants in the exhibition are students of Vladimir Golub, graduates of the author’s photography school. Many of them have become recognized masters of photography, winners and laureates of prestigious international and Russian photography contests. Among them are members of the Union of Photographers of Russia, the International Light Painting World Alliance, and the Union of Wildlife Photographers. There are also newcomers who have only recently graduated from Vladimir Golub’s Photo School and have joined the ranks of the “photumists”.

Photo club “Fotum” was organized in 2011 by Vladimir Golub and his students. They are very different – physicists, programmers, biologists, chemists, economists, doctors, journalists, artists, professional photographers, but they all have one thing in common – a love of photography.

Prominent photographer Alfred Stiglitz once said: “I would like to draw your attention to the most popular misconception about photography – the term“ professional ”is used for supposedly successful photographs, the term“ amateur ”for unsuccessful ones. But almost all great photographs are taken – and have always been – taken by those who followed photography in the name of love – and certainly not in the name of profit. The term “amateur” just implies a person working in the name of love, so the fallacy of the generally accepted classification is obvious”.
