The virtual exhibition “Eh, frontal path-path” was prepared as part of the “Night of Museums” campaign, the theme of which was the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

The exhibition presents graphic works of the front-line correspondent S.D. Legeni from the funds of VOKhM named after I.N. Kramskoy.

Semyon Danilovich Legenya (1905-1994) – Voronezh painter, graphic artist, member of the Union of Artists, participant of the Great Patriotic War. Born in Buturlinovka in 1905, studied at the Voronezh Art and Industry College under A.A. Buchkuri and S.M. Romanovich. He worked as a decorator at the Voronezh Drama Theater, as an artist at the OGPU club and as an artist at the Regional Association “Artist”.

Semyon Legenya walked the roads of war from Novokhopersk to Breslau as part of the formation of the 6th army of the Voronezh, Southwestern and 1st Ukrainian fronts, making sketches of military events, battles, and fellow soldiers. The drawings depict touching human scenes: the life of a soldier at the front, the faces of civilians, scenes of the peaceful life of the liberated cities of Europe and Berlin.

In frontline conditions, Semyon Danilovich managed to save more than a hundred of his own watercolors, pastels, pencil drawings. Most of the works were donated in 2009 by the artist’s daughter to the Voronezh Art Museum. I.N. Kramskoy.
