August 6, 2020 on the second floor of the exhibition hall of the Voronezh Regional Art Museum named after I.N. Kramskoy will open an exhibition “Native land, a charming corner” from the museum collection.

The exhibition features 40 etchings by Ivan Ivanovich Shishkin – the least known page of the artist’s creative biography.

Shishkin became interested in the art of engraving while studying at the Moscow School of Painting and Sculpture, and began to work professionally in the technique of etching in the late 1860s.

More than 60 engraving sheets were transferred to the museum in 1933 from the Voronezh Regional Museum of Local Lore, including 47 works from the retrospective album “60 Etchings by I.I. Shishkin 1870 – 1892 “, published in December 1894 by the Association of A.F. Marx. This album contains the best etchings of the artist, created by him over twenty years.

Shishkin’s graphic works are distinguished by their correct drawing and perfect technique. In the etchings, the master subtly conveys the diversity of Russian nature, immersing the viewer in the world of details and elusive impressions.

The exhibition will run until August 30.
