January 30 at the Voronezh Regional Art Museum. I.N. Kramskoy held the grand opening of the exhibition “Portrait in Perspective. Museum collection V.A. Tropinin “.

For the first time in Voronezh came the works of one of the leading Russian museums – the Museum of V.A. Tropinin and Moscow artists of his time.

Director of the Voronezh Art Museum Olga Ryabchikova thanked the management and staff of the Museum V.A. Tropinin for the trust and respect shown to the museum, expressed in the opportunity to bring and show in Voronezh a unique collection of portraits of the 18th-19th centuries, as well as for the friendly contacts that were born during the preparation of the exhibition.

Welcoming remarks were made by the head of the department of professional art and art education of the culture department of the Voronezh region Alena Sergeeva. She noted the uniqueness of the exhibition, which lies not only in the names of the authors of the submitted works, but also in its versatility. In addition to the artistic value, the exhibition is also cognitive in terms of history, as it provides an opportunity to trace entire eras. It is impossible not to note the human aspect, which forces one to peer into the faces of people of bygone times, and to find related and distinctive features in comparison with modern residents.
According to A. Sergeeva: “I am sure the exhibition will be interesting to people of completely different generations, professions and, no doubt, a large number of visitors are waiting for it!”

The honored guests took part in the opening ceremony: Director of the Museum V.A. Tropinina Olga Zhuravleva and director of the Novosibirsk Museum of Local Lore Andrei Shapovalov.

In her speech, Olga Zhuravleva thanked the staff of both museums – Moscow and Voronezh, who participated in the preparation of the exhibition. In particular, she noted the contribution of the scientific secretary of the Museum V.A. Tropinin, curator of the project Ksenia Rashkovskaya, whose interesting scientific work was presented at exhibition explications, as well as Voronezh colleagues who supported the idea of creating a museum dialogue, supplementing the exhibition from the Moscow Museum funds with works from the collection of the Moscow Art Museum named after I.N. Kramskoy. Special thanks were made to the partner of the exhibition, the general director of Prok LLC, Yuri Segal, without whose support and contribution two art museums could not have implemented the project in Voronezh.

The director of the Novosibirsk Museum of Local Lore, Andrei Shapovalov, who specially arrived at the opening of the exhibition in the capital of the Black Earth Region, said that his arrival was connected with the relay race of the project, since the exhibition will go to Novosibirsk after Voronezh. He thanked for the invitation, which provided an opportunity not only to get acquainted with the city of Voronezh, but also to see how the project “works” in the museum. It was emphasized that the exhibition was done very well and correctly, in it each work has something in common with the neighboring work, there are excellent text materials that complement the visual range and explain the concept of the project.

At the end of the official part of the opening, a guided tour of the exhibition was organized for the guests.

The atmosphere of the opening festival was supplemented by Voronezh groups: the string trio Graphium doson, who performed a musical program that included minuets and waltzes, as well as participants in the Kamenny Bridge historical dance studio, who in baroque and classicist costumes welcomed guests in the exhibition space. Everyone could take pictures not only with the ladies and gentlemen of past eras, but also become the hero of the portrait in a special photo zone, specially arranged in the exhibition.

The exhibition will run until March 22, 2020.
