October 1, 2019 in the universal reading room of the Belgorod Regional Universal Scientific Library an exhibition was opened from the funds of the Voronezh Regional Art Museum named after I.N. Kramskoy. The exposition acquaints with the least known facet of Ivan Shishkin’s work – with his work in the complex and laborious technique of etching.

The exhibition presents etchings, which are the pearls of the graphic art of Shishkin’s landscape painting. The various motifs of the Russian landscape are conveyed by the artist in a very peculiar way, with his own unique understanding and sense of nature, testifying to his boundless love for the motherland. “Fir trees in Shuvalovsky park”, “Forest flowers”, “Forest outskirts”, “Fern”, “Field”, “Crimea” – these and many other works immerse the viewer in the world of elusive sensations. Among the most interesting works of the exhibition – etching “Anthill”. The exposition of etchings also contains a self-portrait of Ivan Shishkin, made in 1886.

All presented Shishkin etchings have a rare artistic expressiveness and allow the viewer to see Russian nature as it was seen by the great artist. In total, 40 etchings are exhibited.

The exhibition runs until the end of November.
