September 6, 2019 in the exhibition hall of the Voronezh Regional Art Museum. I.N. Kramskoy will start a retrospective exhibition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Voronezh painter, graphic artist, Honored Worker of Culture of the RSFSR, the first honorary citizen of Voronezh, a public figure, the first laureate of the St. Sergius of Radonezh Prize – Vasily Pavlovich Krivoruchko.

The artist, whose work does not fit into the framework of any one direction, has created emotional historical cycles devoted to the history of Great Russia – V.P. Krivoruchko organically combined the art of the 19th century with the art of the 20th century.

The audience will be presented more than 150 paintings and graphic works of the artist, created in the period from the 1950s to 1994 from the collections of the Voronezh Regional Art Museum. I.N. Kramskoy, Voronezh Regional Museum of Local Lore, Liskinsky Museum of History and Local Lore, Novousmansky Inter-Settlement Library, Charitable Foundation “Artists of Voronezh”, private collections.

In addition to famous paintings (“Voronezh – to the construction projects of communism”, two triptychs “Novoronezh Atomic”, “Wind of Time”, “Bells (Rostov Ringing)”, “For the honor of the Fatherland”, “For the Russian Land”, “Nabat”, etc.) , little-known works from private and museum collections are exhibited, gathered together for the first time for a large-scale retrospective exhibition of V.P. Krivoruchko.

The paintings are shown in series reflecting the main periods and themes of the artist’s work, and included in the well-known cycles “Ship Voronezh”, “By countries and continents”, “My Russia”, “Moscow Preserve”.

Despite the fact that the main period of V.P. Krivoruchko is associated with Soviet times, the master often turned to stories that go far beyond the limits of official ideology. This also applies to paintings presented at the exhibition dedicated to the “golden age” of Russian icon painting and its outstanding representatives – Theophanes the Greek, Andrei Rublev and Dionysius.

A series of exposed self-portraits created at different periods of creativity will complement the idea of ​​the artist and will demonstrate yet another facet of V.P. Krivoruchko is a delicate and attentive portrait painter.

Vasily Pavlovich is known, as well as an active fighter for the preservation of historical and cultural monuments of the Voronezh region.

The exhibition will be complemented by wooden sculptures created in the 1960s, personal belongings of the artist, books with donated autographs of academician B. Rybakov, ancient books of the 17th – 19th centuries, catalogs of personal exhibitions, booklets, sets of postcards.

The artist’s works are in the Museum of History of Moscow, the Kulikovo Pole Museum-Reserve (Tula), the Vladimir-Suzdal Museum-Reserve, the Tambov Regional Art Gallery, the Pskov State Museum-Reserve, the Donetsk Republican Museum of Art, the Ostrogozh Museum of History and Art named after I.N. Kramskoy, Smolensk State Museum-Reserve, Ulyanovsk Regional Art Museum, Belgorod State Art Museum, Novosibirsk Art Gallery, in private collections in Finland, Sweden, Belgium, Czech Republic, USA, Italy, etc.

Since 1995, his name V.P. Krivoruchko is one of the streets in with. Podgorny, on the house in which the artist lived in Voronezh (1 Timiryazev St.), a memorial plaque was erected in 1998, and since September 2005, the Liskinsky Picture Gallery has been named after the artist.

The exhibition “He loved Russia with all his heart” is a joint project of the museum with the Artists of Voronezh charity foundation. Its president A.A. Bubnov was given financial and organizational support, which allowed him to present the artist’s works from other museums and collections. With the support of the fund, the museum hosted personal exhibitions of G.A. Goncharova, M.I. Likhachev and others.

A cultural and educational program has been prepared for the exhibition.

Vasily Pavlovich Krivoruchko was born on August 10, 1919 in the village of Novo-Peschanoe (now the Burlinsky district of the Altai Territory) into a simple working family. Since 1926 he lived in Donetsk, where he attended classes at an art studio at the local Palace of Culture of Miners (1933-1935). He studied at the Kharkov Art College (1935-1939) with V.I. Kassiyana, M.G. Dereguza, I.A. Dayts, S. M. Prokhorov – student I.E. Repin, N.S. Samokish. Since 1937 he participated in regional, zonal, republican, and all-Union exhibitions.
Member of the Great Patriotic War, Krivoruchko in 1946 continued his education at the art and graphic department of the Moscow Pedagogical Institute. V.P. Potemkina. In 1951, at the invitation of the Voronezh artist N.M. Pichugin moved to Voronezh.
Solo exhibitions Krivoruchko repeatedly held in Moscow, various cities of Russia, in Voronezh and the region.
