Exhibition "Industrial world through the eyes of Alexander Rodchenko" (6+)

June 6 at 16.30 in the exhibition hall of the Voronezh Regional Art Museum. I.N. Kramskoy in the VIII International Platonic Festival of Arts will be the grand opening of the exhibition “Industrial World through the eyes of Alexander Rodchenko.”

At the exhibition will be presented more than 70 photos of Alexander Rodchenko, made in the 1920s, from the collection of the Multimedia Art Museum.

Alexander Rodchenko (1891-1956) stood at the origins of the Russian avant-garde, he was engaged in painting, sculpture, theater and architecture; his posters and collages set new standards for design and advertising in the USSR. In addition, he was an outstanding photographer and is still the symbol of Soviet photography.

Rodchenko began to study photography in 1924. In the late 1920s, he published his experimental camera angles in the magazines “Soviet Cinema” and “New LEF”, filmed the first photo-reports for Soviet magazines.

He showed the world of a new Moscow, built by architects Alexander Vesnin, Moses Ginzburg, Konstantin Melnikov. Showed the assembly of cars at the plant AMO, generators at the power plant, the production of electric bulbs. He believed that the future was beyond the industrial world.

Next to the machines on Rodchenko’s photos there is always a person. His characters are interested in everything, active young people. They work and study, go in for sports. So, he devoted a whole series to the morning exercises on the roof of a newly built student hostel in Lefortovo.

Multimedia Art Museum, Moscow (MAMM) is a museum and exhibition complex, the first museum in Russia specializing in photography, video and media art. It was founded in 1996. In the museum there were exhibitions of such photographers as Georgy Petrusov, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Annie Leibovitz and many others. Curator of the exhibition: Olga Sviblova.

The entrance fee for all categories of citizens is 50 rubles.

The exhibition will last until July 1, 2018.
