Illustration of how faithful to style

September 10, 2015 at 15-00 in the Belgorod State Literary Museum as part of the opening of the exhibition “Illustration as loyalty to the style” from the collection of the Voronezh Regional Art Museum. I.N. Kramskoy held a lecture “Milashevsky – Artist and Writer.”

With the life and work of VA. Milashevsky guests were introduced by Bakina Natalia Evgenievna – Candidate of Historical Sciences, Scientific Secretary of the Voronezh Regional Art Museum. I.N. Kramskoy.

Famous artist Vladimir Milashevsky became famous for his amazing illustrations for Russian and foreign classics. On books with his drawings, more than one generation has grown up. The artist designed about 100 books for children and youth, illustrated dozens of works of classics of world literature and Soviet writers.

The Voronezh Art Museum holds the largest collection of works by the artist. The exhibition exhibits 51 graphic sheets. The exhibition features original drawings for the novels of Flaubert (“Madame Bovary”) and Balzac (“Father Gorio”); illustrations to the works of NG. Chernyshevsky (“What should I do?”), M.E. Saltykov-Shchedrin (“The Golovlevs’ Lords”, “Poshekhonskaya Starina”), D.N. Mamina-Sibiryaka (Privalovskie Millions) and the novel by V. Shishkov (Prokhindey), as well as famous illustrations for the tale of P. Ershov’s The Humpbacked Horse, portraits of Milashevsky’s contemporaries and friends-I. Babel, V. Shklovsky and etc., several self-portraits of the artist.

Visitors can purchase an exhibition catalog. The exhibition “Illustration as fidelity to style” will work until December 8, 2015.
